Gary Ramstetter

Gary Ramstetter has coached for 34 years, 31 as a head coach. He has retired as a teacher at Alamosa, but has continued as the schools wrestling coach. A graduate of Arvada West High School and San Jose State University, he compiled a dual meet record of 267-38 heading into the 2011-2012 season. His teams have won seven state championships, six runner-up finishes, six third-place finishes and a total of 25 top ten's overall. The Mean Moose have also won 17 Region/District championships, finished second 11 times and third once. His team also won the prestigious Reno Tournament of Champions in 2005. Twenty nine of his wrestlers have been able to account for 47 individual state championships, 11 with multiple titles, and 161 state place winners in all. Eight went on to earn All-American honors in college; six are now involved in either high school or college coaching. He was inducted into the Colorado High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 2008; was the Colorado Coach of the Year in 1992, 1995, 1998 and 2006 and the National Region 6 Coach of the Year in 1996 and 2006. He is married to Toni Ramstetter and they have two sons, Jason and Clint. Jason was a two-time, NCAA, Division I All-American at Cal State Bakersfield.
