Ina Gomez

Ina Gomez - Lifetime Service to Wrestling Award: Gomez graduated from Dolores County High School in 1963 and Adams State College in 1972. Although her career in wrestling is not on the wrestling mats, she has made significant contributions to the sport working at tournaments and becoming an international level pairing official. She has always been mat side working, scoring and taking students to work and compete in wrestling tournaments throughout the Western States and the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. She has been a PairingMaster for Olympic style wrestling holding a US National License for 27 years, an FELA International License for 20 and is currently serving her second term on the Executive Board of the United States Wrestling Officials Association. She has worked for local, national and international events including seven World Championships, two World Cups, six Pan American Games, two Olympic Festivals, four Armed Forces Championships, 87 International tournaments and more than 100 national tournaments. Gomez, who writes the championship award brackets at the Colorado state tournament, was voted the National Pairing Master of the Year in 2002 and named A Positive Person Educator by the Chamber of Commerce among her many honors. She taught in grade and middle schools for 31 years and created a Challenge Program for all grades in Walsenburg and has even tutored students in her home for several years.
