Tyler Beckwith

Since he stepped onto legendary coach Tim Jenk's Greene High School varsity wrestling team as a seventh grader Tyler Beckwith has produced an array of wonderful wrestling accomplishments. He amassed a varsity record of 235-10 that included two State championships and one runner up finish and was named Outstanding Wrestler at the 2010 New York State Tournament. Following his fmal state championship performance Tyler traveled to Virginia Beach, where he became the first four-time National High School Champion in the 21st NHSCA National high School Seniors Wrestling Championship presented by the U.S. Navy at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Besides his outstanding record in folkstyle, Tyler is also accomplished in freestyle and greco-roman wrestling. He is a New York State freestyle champion as well as a New York State greco-roman champion. He is also a two-time FILA national champion. Tyler is the son of Gerry G. Beckwith and Sherrie M. Beckwith. He has been on the academic honor roll all four years of high school. Tyler has been a volunteer in PTA fund raisers, meals on wheels deliveries, youth presentations at the elementary school, flood relief assistance, and setting up the town fair for community fund raiser. Besides his year-round cormnitment to wrestling, Tyler also competed in varsity football where he earned three varsity letters and was team captain and named to the sectional team and all-county team. Tyler Beckwith was one of the truly "Blue Chip" wrestling recruits his senior year. Much to the joy of his many fans he has decided to remain close to home and will compete next year for Binghamton University where he will continue his quest for excellence. The New York Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame is pleased to name Tyler J. Beckwith as recipient of the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award.
