Martin Taggart

Martin Taggart began teaching and coaching at Moapa Valley in 1971, and spend 33 of his 35 years in education coaching wrestling and football.

He started the wrestling program in 1972, mainly wrestling the bigger schools of Las Vegas. In 1974, the smaller schools were divided out, and Moapa Valley won eight consecutive Nevada state wrestling titles from 1975 to 1982. It remains the second-longest wrestling state title streak in Nevada history.

Taggart coached one four-time individual state champion and three three-time champions.

He also spent 13 years as head football coach, winning three state titles and seven division titles.
