Bernie Gonzales
Berney Gonzales began wrestling as a youth in the metro Detroit area and success came quickly. He was a two time MHSAA State Champion in the 70's and was also the first American to win a Greco-Roman gold medal in international competition (the Junior World Championships). After his competitive career was over, Berney turned to coaching, first at Madison High School in 1985, through the mid-nineties and then moved to Bishop Foley in 1995. Berney is still coaching, rolling around on the mats with Youth, Middle School and High School wrestlers instilling the hard work ethics and values that every one needs to be successful.
