Dick Morris
Dick wrestled at Mt. San Antonio Junior College from 1956-1957. He graduated with an AA Degree, later adding a BA from Whittier College in 1960 and a MA from Azusa Pacific University in 1972. He spent 6 years as Head Wrestling Coach at Edgewood HS, earning League Championships in 5 of those years. He was then Head Wrestling Coach at Corona del Mar HS for 10 years, winning League Championships in 9 of those. In 1972, he was selected Southern California Section Coach of the Year when his team won the CIF Southern Section Championship (before there was a State Tournament). Dick has 50 years of officiating experience. He officiated at California's State High School Tournaments from 1987-2006. He officiated CIF-Southern Section Divisional Championships from 1977-2008, and CIF-SS Dual Meet Championships 1988-2008. He served as the State Evaluator of Officials at the CIF State Championships from 2007-2010. He has been a regular at several major high school wrestling tournaments, officiating at Five Counties 1977-2007, at CIT from 1984-1986, and at El Dorado from 1986-1990. Dick also officiated on the college level from 1980-1986, including at California Junior College Regionals 1982-1986. The AA-rated ranking he achieved is the highest in Southern California for any official. He served as President of the Southern California Wrestling Officials Association and also of the Orange County Wrestling Officials Association for three terms (six years) in each. He was awarded the Golden Whistle Award by the California Wrestling Officials Association in 2004. Dick is a distinguished member of the California Wrestling Hall of Fame, inducted in 2007. He was also inducted into and the Orange County Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2005.
