Mayo "Cecil" DeBey

September 01, 1927 - September 26, 2022

Cecil DeBey, Fort Lupton: DeBey, who now lives in Milliken, graduated from College High in Greeley in 1945, then served in the Navy from 1945 to 1947. He then went on to obtain his degree in Education from Colorado State College in 1952 and to become a science teacher. He coached at Fort Lupton High School (1952- 1959), Heath Jr. High in Greeley (1959-1963) Greeley West High School (1963-1967) and again at Heath (1967-1968). He has a long list of state place winners from high school and college and has received several community honors. He has served as a score keeper at the state tournament for the past 29 years. Although retired from teaching, he still serves as a substitute teacher. His sustained commitment to the sport of wrestling in Colorado has earned him recognition as an outstanding coach as well as a contributor to all aspects of the sport.
