Daniel Juergensen
Daniel Juergensen graduated from Concordia Teachers College in Seward, Nebraska and went on to obtain his masters at the University of Nebraska before making his way to Colorado. While he is retired from the high school coaching ranks, he still runs a club wrestling team for youth 4 to 14 years of age. He has coached for 42 years, 35 as a head high school coach, starting the wrestling program at Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, NY (1967-1976). He then moved to Loveland and became the head coach at Thompson Valley High School for the next 29 seasons. Over the course of his career, his teams were 376-101-6. His teams have also won over 50 tournament titles in New York and Colorado. His NewYork squad won six league titles and finished second in state Private and Parochial New York championships in 1975. He has coached 60 state place winners, 49 in Colorado, 11 in New York, as well as two national champions. More than a dozen of his former wrestlers went on to coach in high school and college. Among his many honors, he is a member of the Concordia Athletic Hall of Fame, Seward, Neb. Hall of Fame, the Colorado Coaches Hall of Fame and was 10 times the Northern Conference Coach of the Year. He is still coaching as an assistant for his son, David, at Thompson Valley.
