Frederick Lucas
Fred Lucas is recognized for his years of dedication to the development of leadership and citizenship in young people through the sport of wrestling.

Fred Lucas coached wrestling for 21 years at Medford Senior high school, North Bend high school, South Medford high school and McLoughlin junior high school in Medford. He had six state champions, two state runner-up and 12 State Placers. He coached seven Oregon Teams at national tournaments in Iowa and was selected coach of the 1978 Oregon Cultural Exchange All-Star team to Japan. Fred has been active as a wrestling official serving seven years at the high school nationals in Iowa and five years at the USWF with four years as USWF Director of officials for Oregon. He was the head official at the 1982 USWF Western Regionals and co-head official of the 1984 Western Olympic Trials. Fred served on the OSAA wrestling committee conducting the state tournament for over 25 years and has been tournament chairperson for the North Bend Coast Classic for over 20 years, Oregon Classic wrestling tournament committee member for seven years, Southern Oregon Open committee member for six years and tournament Director of the Skyline Conference district tournament.
For his dedication and lasting influence on wrestling, Fred Lucas is presented the National Wrestling Hall of Fame’s “Lifetime Service to Wrestling “award for the class of 2009.
