John Moore

Coach John wrestled in college at Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania.  His coaching career began at Beamus Point High School in New York.  He then moved to Bellgrove High School in Illinois. He had one State Champion, one runner-up and his team finished fourth in the state.  In 1975 he became the head wrestling coach at Ocala Forrest High School.  He retired in 1995 but came back in 1998 to help out.  He currently remains an assistant there. Coach Moore has over 300 wins as a high school wrestling coach.  He was a pioneer of wrestling in North Central Florida. His teams have won 14 District Titles and two Regional Titles.  He has produced three state champions.  One of his wrestlers, Troy Wiseman wrote, "I was a relatively poor kid from Ocala, Florida and what I learned on the mat and through coach Moore helped me to become a very successful entrepreneur.  I built a $120 million clothing company called B.U.M. Equipment and subsequently, after selling out, built a $150 million financial service firm called InvestLinc... the impact of life lessons learned through coach Moore and Wrestling allowed me to achieve the American dream."
