Richard Urano
Richard Urano was a graduate of Fort Lupton High School and earned his BS and MA degrees from Colorado State University. He became the wrestling coach at Eaton in 1966 and remained in the top position 40 years. He also was an assistant football coach from 1966-1982 for the Reds and coached youth baseball during the summers. He had a career record 330-164-10 at Eaton where his teams won eight league titles, placed second eight times, won four regional championships and placed second 10 times. He coached 16 state champions, had 74 regional champions and a total of 66 state place winners. A total of 244 of his wrestlers were regional place winners during his stellar career. He has been named a coach of the year "several times", was named Colorado Teacher/Coach of the Year twice, and is a member of the Colorado High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He has also coached in the All-State Games in the summer, and has served several years on the Colorado High School Coaches Wrestling Committee. He now works as a part-time computer repairman. He and his wife, Jeannie, have one son, Michael.
