Wayne Humphrey
Humphrey coached at Ranum for 30 years compiling a 225-54-7 dual match record. And, like most coaches, he had a hand in officiating, slapping the mats for 16 years. Humphrey, who was inducted into the Colorado Coaches Hall of Fame in 1988, won nine league and district championships with the Raiders. They won the large school state title once, finished second once and third twice in his tenure. They also finished first or second at 29 invitational tournaments. Humphrey had 43 state place winners including nine state champions, several of them multiple winners, and 10 runner-ups. He was the Colorado Coach of the Year in 1977 and coached the U.S. high school team that went to Japan in 1974 to an undefeated tour. Humphrey certainly had an impact on the wrestlers he coached with 11 following his footsteps into the coaching profession. He has also served as a clinician in several of the western states and served as the president of the Colorado Wrestling Coaches Association from 1969-1971.
