Carol Roseto

Carol Roseto’s lifelong dedication to wrestling began with a strong foundation in judo, where she developed the discipline, technical knowledge, and competitive spirit that shaped decades of service to the sport. In the late 1970s, she served as a four-year student manager for the JV and varsity wrestling teams at Jericho High School under Coach Dick Drab. She continued as a student manager under legendary Coach Nick Gallo at Hofstra University while earning her undergraduate and graduate degrees, experiences that laid the foundation for a lifetime of leadership, advocacy, and service.

After a successful 17-year business career, Ms. Roseto entered education as a physical education and health teacher at Lawrence High School. From 1999 to 2009, she served as assistant coach for the JV & varsity boys wrestling teams under head coaches Mike Bloom and Dom DelVecchio, mentoring student-athletes and instilling perseverance, accountability, and sportsmanship.

In 2009, Ms. Roseto became District Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics for the Rockville Centre Public Schools, while continuing her extensive service to wrestling. She volunteered as table personnel at the 2011 World Police and Fire Games, became Assistant Director of the Razor Wrestling Club alongside founder Ted DiPasquale in 2012, and she continues to volunteer each summer at the Long Beach Wrestling Tournament with Coach Miguel Rodriguez.

Throughout her administrative career, Ms. Roseto remained deeply involved with Section VIII Wrestling. She volunteered annually at the Championships, and in 2021 and 2022 solely organized and staffed all table personnel for the Boys’ County Championships, ensuring the success of the event behind the scenes. In Rockville Centre, she expanded youth wrestling by increasing facility access, promoting participation for students in grades one through six through her physical education program, merging programs with a neighboring high school to broaden opportunities, and partnering with varsity coach Mike Robinson to incorporate the “Wrestling Takes Down Drugs” initiative into the curriculum.

Ms. Roseto’s visionary leadership was instrumental in the growth of girls wrestling in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. In March 2019, she spearheaded the first girls middle school wrestling scrimmage, creating new competitive opportunities for female athletes. She also helped establish and served on the Board of the Razor Girls Wrestling Club, providing clinics and developmental opportunities while sponsoring a nationally recognized “Wrestle Like a Girl” clinic at Nassau Community College featuring Olympian Helen Maroulis and Emma Randall, with more than 100 participants.

She also expanded the South Side Gianpaolo Tournament to include the region’s first all-girls division. What began in December 2021 with 32 competitors from 10 teams across eight weight classes grew by December 2025 to 199 competitors from 25 schools, filling all 13 weight classes. The girls division has since become a stand-alone tournament named in Ms. Roseto’s honor in recognition of her transformative impact.

Ms. Roseto was a driving force in establishing and growing girls wrestling in Section VIII, serving as Nassau County Girls Wrestling Coordinator and on the New York State Girls Wrestling Committee from its inception through her retirement in 2024. She also served on the selection committee for the first two New York State Girls Invitational Wrestling Tournaments. Before her retirement, girls wrestling became an officially sanctioned New York State Public High School sport, culminating in a New York State Championship by its third year—a lasting testament to the foundation built by leaders such as Ms. Roseto.

Through decades of service as a manager, coach, administrator, organizer, mentor, and advocate, Ms. Carol Roseto has strengthened wrestling programs and permanently expanded opportunities for generations of student-athletes, especially young women, across Nassau County and New York State. Her impact on the sport is both profound and enduring, making her exceptionally deserving of Hall of Fame recognition.
