Scott Craft wrestled for Rim of the World High School, making history as the school’s first state placer with a fifth-place finish in 1982 and a sixth-place finish in 1983.

He went on to compete at San Jose State University and Cal State Bakersfield before a knee injury ended his career. (5th in 1982 and 6th in 1983).

Transitioning to coaching, Craft served as an assistant at Rim of the World High School from 1987 to 1999 before taking over as head coach from 2000 to 2017.

Under his tutelage, the program thrived with a 305-42 dual meet record, two California Interscholastic Federation division titles, and two CIF dual meet titles. He coached 24 CIF individual champions, 37 overall CIF place-winners, and 14 state place-winners, including three-time state champion Scott Chapman.

Notably, he also coached Marcie VanDusen, the first girl to place in a CIF tournament while wrestling against boys.
