Mark is an innovative family man of faith. He will be a Bruise Brother forever. The friendships and experiences helped shape the man he has become. His coach, Randy Thomas (Class of 2021), had a profound impact on him and getting to take the coaching reins at Springfield High School, his alma mater, was a dream come true. Mark coached Springfield for 10 years including a 2005 Duals runner up. Ronnie Carter (Class of 2006) came knocking and tagged Mark to take over wrestling at the TSSAA. That was the sport Mr. Carter and Gene Beck personally oversaw and there was no saying no when those two ask. Mark held National leadership positions including being a member of the NFHS Rules Committee. At home he helped institute small school divisions and he guided the TSSAA to be the first state in the country to sanction women’s wrestling as a high school championship sport.
