Dave Holcomb is compartmentalized. Even those that know him may not know the full story. He is so good at each of the pieces that it would be easy to miss that he had other facets to him. Dave was a 13-year TSSAA referee with the Middle TN Wrestling Officials Association and was selected to call ten State Tournaments. And if you knew Dave as an official you may not know that he was an inspirational coach for a combined 15 years on both sides of his officiating career.

Dave’s compartments and service started as a sailor on the USS Nemitz where he was active duty for ten years in the Nuclear Reactor Department. He continued his service to the communities of Warren and Coffee Counties by coaching high school and middle school teams in addition to hosting clinics to introduce wrestling to the newcomers to the sport. Dave carried the word assistant in front of coach. He didn’t care what the title looked like he just wanted to be a part. Now that he is retired it is easier. When he was working his ‘other’ job he consistently chose to take vacation time or go in early for the 12-hour shifts in order to make time for practice or matches. Dave is a guy you want on your side and we are excited to recognize his induction!
