Jack Stallings

Jack Stallings was born in Hadonfield, NJ on September 21, 1956.  Jack is the second born of six children and the oldest male child. His father and grandfather were both football and baseball officials, making him a third generation official.  Jack has officiated football, flag football, baseball, and wrestling. Growing up in south Jersey, competition was a way of life.  Jack’s Dad preached “the first one up was the best fed and the best dressed.”  Organized wrestling for Jack started in the ninth grade (1970-71) where he made the varsity team at 148 lbs.  Jack’s first season was cut short by a dislocated finger due to horsing around.  The summer of 1971, Jack and his family moved to Cocoa Beach, Florida.  Wrestling, football, and baseball all followed Jack south.  He would bulk up for football (175 lbs.), playing fullback and pulling guard, then cut drastically to 148-155 lbs. and later to 132 lbs. to wrestle.  By Jack’s junior year, his coach decided that the team would be stronger if he could make 132 lbs.  Jack somehow got to 132 lbs. for his last two years of high school, and he placed third at State Tournament as a senior.  Jack earned a scholarship to wrestle at Brevard Jr. College and finished third in the Southeastern Jr. College Division.  Jack went on to finish college at Auburn University after his wrestling career ended.

As an avid sport supporting dad, Jack coached his son’s teams and successfully introduced him to the love of wrestling.  Jack started officiating by need for tournaments and meets in 1988.  By 1990 Jack decided to register and started calling high school wrestling in Ohio.  Jack has officiated the state finals in Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.  Jack has officiated the Alabama State Tournament 19 times and the Sectionals and Super Sectionals in Alabama dozens of times over the past 25 years.  Jack has also officiated many independent tournaments throughout the country (Deep South Duals, Poseidon, Super 32, etc.) over the past 30 years.

Jack has two children, Jason, a wrestling state qualifier in both Tennessee and Florida; and Taylor, an All-American swimmer in high school and college and current Rocket Scientist. Jack  currently has eight grandchildren: Starla, Ayden, Trevor, Willow, Beckett, Holden, Amory (Bowie), and Susanna (Zuzu).

Jack’s current position is “Papa Jack” helping raise those grands!
