Jeff Mann

Jeff Mann grew up in Fultondale, Alabama. He attended Fultondale elementary and high school where he was an all-year-round athlete, playing both offense and defense on the football field, wrestling through the winter months, and stepping on the pitching mound in baseball season. Just two months after his high school graduation in 1989, Jeff started his journey to becoming one of the few and the proud. He spent four years in the Marine Corps serving as a clerk during Operation Desert Storm and as a Heavy Machine Gun Vehicle Commander during Operation Restore Hope. Corporal Jeff Mann was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 1993. After his return home, Jeff studied at University of Alabama at Birmingham where he received a degree in Secondary Education in 1998. He coached and taught at Erwin High School (now Center Point High School) and Hewitt Trussville High School from 1998-2001. In 2001 Jeff began his first business, and in 2008 he took ownership of Warrior Tire in Warrior, AL. He successfully ran the tire store until 2025 when he stepped away to focus on his family and his battle with ALS.

Jeff has faced every challenge in his life with fierce determination, focused discipline, and an unmatched work ethic. Jeff often tells people those characteristics that contributed to his success were forged through wrestling. In eighth grade, Jeff stepped on a wrestling mat for the first time. That first year he won two matches. But he didn’t give up and with the exceptional coaching and encouragement of Charlie Bruce and Billy Hughes, Jeff developed a passion for wrestling. As he continued learning and growing as a wrestler, he began winning more matches than he lost. In his Junior year, Jeff made it to the state finals but was beaten by Pinson Valley’s Jeff Greg. In his Senior year, Jeff again squared off against Jeff Greg for the state title. Jeff was determined to walk away with the title and became a state title holder in 1989 with the victory. His rivalry with Jeff Greg became the stuff of legend at Fultondale High, and the lessons Jeff took away from that rivalry made a lasting impact on his life.

That same attitude followed him to the Marine Corps where he received commendations for his outstanding leadership and tactical skill while serving in Somalia. It was the same character that followed him as a dedicated volunteer wrestling coach at Pinon Valley HS from 1996-97, and as a coach and teacher at Erwin High School from 1998-99. At Erwin, Jeff joined the coaching staff of an already solid wrestling team built by Mark Snyder and lead by Coach Jack Burton. He was able to help coach that team to a 5A State Championship, including five individual state title holders. Jeff then joined Mark Snyder at Hewitt Trussville HS, serving as an assistant wrestling coach from 1999-2001.

After leaving education in 2001, Jeff continued to be involved in wrestling, either through offering financial support to high school wrestling teams through corporate sponsorships or pitching in to help with officiating.

Jeff is so grateful for all the people, the lessons and the opportunities he found through the sport of wrestling. It gave him such a needed foundation as he became a coach, teacher, businessman, husband, and father. While Jeff feels so unworthy to receive this honor, he will always be a champion for the wrestling community and grateful for all the gifts the sport has given to him. Most of all, he wants to thank God, knowing every good gift is because of His mercy and grace.

Jeff has been married to his wife, Michele, for 31 years. They have four children, Mary Catherine, Maggie, Nate and Nolan.
