Edmundo Flores
Edmundo Flores is being inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Michigan Chapter for his Lifetime Service to Wrestling.
Key achievements include:
Athletic Career:
○ State Runner-Up in high school wrestling and part of Shelby High School's 1972 state championship team.
○ Collegiate wrestler at Lake Superior State and Grand Valley State University (GVSU), where he was a GIAC conference champion, NCAA qualifier, and part of GVSU's undefeated dual team in 1976-77.
Coaching Career:
○ Assistant coach at GVSU in 1978, contributing to the team’s second-place finish in the NAIA tournament.
○ Head coach at Whitehall School District for 10 years during the 1980s.
Officiating Career:
○ MHSAA state tournament official for 29 years, officiating numerous finals matches since 1991.
○ Recognized as one of Michigan's top wrestling officials for his fairness, accuracy, and focus on wrestler safety.
○ National-level softball umpire and member of the National Indicator Fraternity.
Mentorship:
○ Actively mentors young coaches, athletes, and officials, sharing his knowledge and experience.
