Ron Trowbridge
Ron Trowbridge graduated from Cameron High School in 1985. He began wrestling in the 5th grade coached by Bob Baird. During this time and through Jr. Hi. is when he would be introduced to Coach Baird's "Basic Wrestling Moves", the foundation for his wrestling and coaching career.
During his high school career he participating in both football and wrestling for legendary and Hall of Fame Coach Jim Potts. He was a 2-time State Tournament and OVAC placer. During his senior season he finished with an individual state championship at 138 lbs. The team won their first Regional Championship and finished as State Runner-up AA-A.
Ron graduated from West Virginia University in 1989 with a B.S. in Secondary Education with certification in Biology and General Science. He was also a member of the WVU wrestling team.
He started his coaching career at Cameron in 1990-1991, assisting Coach Jim Rogers with the Jr. Hi. Program and volunteering with the high school team.
Coach Trowbridge was Varsity Assistant Coach with Head Coach Jim Potts from 1991- 2005. During that time the Cameron Wrestling Program experienced much success. From 1991-2005 Cameron won 4 AA-A State Championships, Runner-up twice and finished 3'd three times. This included finishing in the top 6 at the State Tournament for 15 consecutive years. During this time he coached 42 state finalist and 22 individual state champions along with 5 OVAC champions. Coach Trowbridge was named OVAC Assist Coach of the Year and Cameron won multiple OVAC Class A Team Tournament Titles. The most noted OVAC team accomplishment was in 1993 when Cameron finished as the Overall Tournament Runner-up.
Ron held the Head Coaching position at Cameron from 2008-2013. During that time Cameron had 8 state finalist, 3 individual state champions, an OVAC individual champion and won 3 OVAC Class A Team titles.
Coach Trowbridge has been involved with the Cameron Wrestling Program for the past 47 yrs.
Ron has been employed with Mountaineer Gas Company for 30 yrs. He currently serves as Operations Manager at the Wheeling Service Center.
Ron and his wife Amy of 37 yrs reside in Cameron. They have 3 children, Derek, Cassidy and Natalie. They are the grandparents of Enslee and Dutton.
