Alan Fell
Alan Fell is a 1971 graduate of Phillipsburg High School in New Jersey where he wrestled for the legendary coach Thad Turner. During Alan's high school career the wrestling team won fifty-six consecutive dual matches. (Turner later coached at Lehigh University).
Alan moved to West Virginia in the mid 1970's taking a job at Plateau Medical Center in Oak Hill. In 1997 he enrolled his son on the Beckley Central Youth Wrestling Team and immediately became a volunteer coach. After one year at Beckley, he and Joel Harris started a youth wrestling program at Oak Hill. Later they formed a wrestling team at Collins Middle School in Oak Hill. At Oak Hill High School, with Joel Harris as the head coach and Alan as his assistant, wrestling began to flourish. Their program started producing individual regional champions and state place winners. In 2007, Alan's son, Ryan, became the school's first state wrestling champion winning the AA-A 215 pound class. In 2008 , Oak Hill's team won their first ever Region 3 championship and qualified ten athletes to the state tourney. This was one of Alan's proudest moments. With Joel Harris's departure, Alan took over as head coach and helped the school transition into the AAA classification. After four years as head coach he resigned in 2014 but he continued to volunteer with the high school and middle school programs.
He also helps, on occasion, with his son's middle school program in Morgantown. Alan has been a strong advocate for girls' wrestling in West Virginia. He enjoys biking during his free time.
Alan and his wife, Toni reside in Oak Hill. They are the proud parents of sons, Nathan (Jenny), Ryan (Holly) and daughter Bevin (Jacob). They are the proud grandparents of Aiden, Avery, Carter, Cassie, Lilly, Maci and Maddox.
