Gary Brewster

Even though Gary Brewster is a Tennessee boy he started his coaching career in California just after he finished wrestling in college in 1978. He made his way back to Nashville in 1990 where he was a club coach in the Police Athletic League and later with the Copperheads. In 1990, Gary started his officiating career and moved to the dark side. After 34 years he has limited his mat time and now serves as a TSSAA Supervisor of Officials since 2019. Gary could be seen sporting black and red during Overton’s championship run in the late 90’s when his oldest son, Casey, was winning an individual championship and helping Overton claim the team championship. Gary was a 1988 Coach of the Year in the Sierra Foothill League, a Middle TN Referee of the Year, and an 8 yr TSSAA state tournament official. For his 45+ years of service to wrestling, Gary is being honored in the Wrestling Hall of Fame.
