Randy Shelton

Randy Shelton had some big shoes to fill taking the head coaching position at Greeneville HS. He followed greats David Hollowell and the late Bill Brimer-both HOF honorees, but fill the shoes he did. Randy wrested for Coach Hollowell at Greeneville and as team captain was already showing a coaching aptitude with an encyclopedic knowledge of wrestling and opponent lineups. Coach Hollowell said Randy was the only choice to replace a retiring Bill Brimer. Randy has been the head coach at Greeneville for 15 years but involved with the program for over 23 years. In that time Greeneville has accomplished 16 Region duals championships, a Duals state championship in 2013, five traditional region championships, and a traditional state title in 2022, as well as three runner up finishes. Randy coached 23 state champions, four OWs, 45 medalists, and 12 athletes who wrestled in college. Randy is a many time Coach of the Year and now he is part of the 2024 Class of the Wrestling Hall of Fame
