Maurice Patton (Mo)

Maurice Patton has been a beacon for almost 40 years. He has spotlighted teams, wrestlers, coaches and yes…even referees. Maurice doesn’t just recap matches, he tells the story with more than a touch of humanity. Mo Patton is a sports editor, talk show host, poster, reporter, and journalist. He’s a man with many hats. The journalism landscape has changed greatly over the past 40 years and it takes a great effort to remain relevant when coverage of high school sports is all but vanishing from the Nashville area.

Mo was the 2013 TSSAA Athletic District 5 Contributor of the Year. In 2019 he received the TSSAA Distinguished Service Award, and in 2021 he was inducted into the TN Sportswriters Hall of Fame. Now he joins the TN Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame as the 5th sports writing member.
