Loren Danielson

Loren Danielson was a wrestler and a pretty good one.  He was a Maryland state champion at Springbrook High School and as American University’s co-captain, became its first NCAA Tournament qualifier as a 142 pound junior with a 32-5 record.  He has demonstrated a passionate commitment to the advancement of wrestling at youth league, high school and collegiate levels as a competitor, coach, advisor and financial contributor.

While his experience as a wrestler provided a foundation for career success and a rewarding life, it is his fundamentally good character that has enabled him to be a considerable and positive influence on so many lives.

Loren exemplifies the basic principles of hard work, perseverance, calm demeanor, loyalty, kindness and generosity of spirit.  He has an extraordinarily large assortment of enduring relationships with former coaches and teammates, colleagues and clients, neighbors and even onetime customers of his college grass cutting business.  He is a devoted husband to his wife, Jamie, and 2 sons Collin and Matthew.

Since 1980, Loren has been a financial advisor and has proven to be one of the best and most highly respected in the business.  His colleagues at RBC Wealth Management rely on his advice and counsel and his on-air commentaries for Market One and Bloomberg Radio were known for clear-headed explanations of market activity.

Loren’s impact on American University and its wrestling program has been profound.  Loren provides strategic guidance to senior university administrators and to the athletic department and is a significant financial contributor supporting wrestling.  Loren has helped guide generations of AU wrestlers to reach their full potential, on and off the mat.  He is an inspiring mentor to these young men, many of whom have been his office interns, receiving exposure to the business world and to his commitment to excellence.  Two years ago, Loren was honored by the university with its Alumni Eagle Award for his considerable time and generous philanthropic support to ensure American University student-athletes thrive in competition and beyond their sports.

Loren remembers with respect what opportunities were available to him and gives much in return.
