Justin Gates was a three-time Michigan High School Athletic Association state champion and a four-time state finalist for Davison High School in Davison, Michigan.

A four-time district and regional champion, he had a career record of 147-8 and helped Davison capture the MHSAA Division I state team title in 2021 and 2022.

Gates won the 135-pound title at the Grappler Fall Classic in 2022 and was also a two-time Grappler Gold champion, capturing titles in 2021 and 2022. He was undefeated at the National High School Coaches Association Duals in 2023 and at the Tyrant Tussle Duals in 2022 and 2023.

Gates, who graduated with a 4.024 GPA and was a four-time MHSAA Academic All-State selection, will continue his wrestling career at the University of Michigan.
