Joe Blair

May 20, 2023 - Present

Joe Blair started at Brentwood High as an assistant under legendary coach G. P. West, who was an inaugural class inductee in 1994. Joe coached at Brentwood 20 years, the last 18 as head coach. He had seven top ten finishes in the Traditional state tournament, nine individual champs, 46 medalists and three freestyle all-americans. Joe has an amazing work ethic that has produced a state medalist in every year he’s coached at Brentwood. Joe was very involved in international style wrestling and served many positions in the TN Wrestling Federation. Joe saw the advantages of the international styles as well as the additional season to compete which helped give his teams an edge in the ultra tough Williamson County district and region.

Their son was the only thing that could make B. R. and Mary Charles…temporarily, put away their Raider gear and become Bruins because while Joe is a Bruin, he started as a Cleveland Raider. Before he refined his coaching at Brentwood he cut his teeth in Cleveland as a wrestler and later as a middle school coach.

Joe was instrumental in bringing the state tournament to the Williamson County Ag Center and whether you like the location or not it allowed for an end to the carry tournament which no one was a fan. Please help me recognize the guy that put an end to one and done, Joe Blair.
