Chris Lewis

Chris Lewis has been coaching high school wrestling in Memphis since 1990, first at Bishop Byrnes, next at his longest tenure Christian Brothers and currently at Memphis University School. He’s closing in 600 wins and has coached 26 state champions, 209 state placers and 3 national champions, including 2014 World Team member Nick Marable who has a senior win over Jordan Burroughs. Chris has coached 17 Regional Dual championship teams, two State Duals champions and in 2013 he pulled off the Dual/Traditional double state championship. He has been selected nine times Commercial Appeal Best of the Preps Wrestling Coach of the Year and NWCA Tennessee Coach of the Year in 2009 and NFHS Tennessee Coach of the Year in 2010. Chris has been deeply dedicated to his teams, but what Chris does for his teams doesn’t tell the whole story. Chris has been very dedicated to promoting and supporting the sport. He’s been a TACA Wrestling Board member since 2010 and in 2018 Chris volunteered for the tedious task to recreate every match wrestled in the TSSAA state tournaments.
