Blair Packer

Blair Packer was a District VI champ and Regional Runner-Up at Bald Eagle Area, under Hall of Fame Coach Joe Humphreys. He graduated from Penn State with a BS in 1979 and a Master’s in 1992. Blair started his coaching career in 1979 in the Glendale Area, spend 21 years coaching there before moving in 2000 to Tyrone Area. He retired from there after 14 years and accumulated 307 coaching wins. Blair was the 1989-91 District 6 Wrestling Association President and then performed as its Treasurer for 4 years. In 2004 he was named the District 6 Coach of the Year.

Blair was a 2012 District 6 Wrestling Hall of Fame Inductee, and he is ranked 4th in most District 6 Coaching Wins. At Tyrone, his team was the D-6 Runner-up in  2003, District 6 Champions in 2004 and 2005 and was District 6 third in 2006.

Blair coached 22 District Champions and had one 4-time Champion – Ronnie Garbinsky (2008 -2011), and 3-time Champion AJ Schopp (2008-2011). He coached 3 outstanding wrestlers, T.J. Albright (2006) and A.J. Schopp in both 2009 and 2010. He also had 9 Southwest Regionals Champions and 2 PIAA State Champions Terry Tate at 285 in 2006, and AJ Schopp at 135 in 2010.

Blair currently resides in Tyrone, PA and has a daughter Vanessa Myers.
