Dan was an Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association Champ in 1974, and in 1972, he caught fire and won the NCAA Championship.

He was a US World freestyle team alternate behind Dan Gable, a four-time Inter-Service champ, winning two Freestyle and two Greco-Roman titles. He also was a three-time AAU National Freestyle place winner and a Greco-Roman place winner.

Dan started coaching in 1977 as an assistant at Pensacola High School in Florida. He then was an assistant at Jersey Shore in 1988, and again from 2004 to 2020. Dan then moved on to Lycoming College as an assistant coach in 1989 to 2000. He was also a PIAA wrestling official from 1989 to 1994.

His love for wrestling is contagious and he willingly shares his expertise in that area with anyone who asks. He has been inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association, the West Branch Sports, and the US Naval Academy Halls of Fame.
