Gerry Maurey

Jerry Maurey was a 1950 graduate of Clearfield High School, wrestling for legendary Hall of Fame Coach, Art Weiss. Jerry was a 4X PIAA State Champion, compiling a career 67-0 record!

He was a 1954 graduate of Penn State, competing in 1952-1954, and had a career record of 34-5-1. Jerry was a 2X All-American, and was the EIWA Champion in 1953 and 1954, after taking second in 1952. After college, he was at a very high level on the national/Olympic scene while serving time in the U.S. Air Force. He began his coaching career in 1958 at Central Cove High School and coached at Clearfield from 1959-64 with a record of 52-7. In 1964 he moved into college coaching and was 15-0 at Bloomsburg. Jerry moved to Florida A&M University in 1967 and coached there until 1972. He completed his coaching career Lincoln High School starting in 1991 until 1993.

Jerry has numerous awards during and after his career and a few a listed below: 1976 PWCA Hall of Fame, 1987 Clearfield Sports Hall of Fame, 2008 District 9 Wrestling Hall of Fame, 2015 National AAU Hall of Fame, 2017 EIWA Hall of Fame and also Penn State Outstanding Alumnus Award. At the coaching finish line, Jerry continued his involvement in the great sport of wrestling as a worthy adviser and historian of high school and college wrestling. Jerry currently resides in Tallahassee, Florida with his wife Betty Sue and they are the proud parents of three children Andrew, Cathy, and Becky.
