David Stoika

Dave Stoika brought his wrestling expertise straight from Iowa. He starting coaching in 1977 at Lynnville Sully Jr High in Iowa. He moved to TN in 1981 and officiated for three years. He moved back to the dark side after that to coach McMinn Co for the next 34 years.

Dave coached 2 future state champions in Iowa and we all remember his 2x state champion Shazzon Bradley in '87 and '88. He also had a girl's champ in Kelsey Hampton in the inaugural girls tournament. Dave piled up 278 dual victories, but his real accomplishment was to keep a wrestling program going 34 years in an area not rich in wrestling tradition. Dave introduced and kept so many involved in the sport with little support that does so much to help mold young boys into men. That is his true accomplishment.
