Jose Delgado
Jose Delgado is a wrestling guy who does whatever needs doing in a wrestling setting.
A Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association referee from Memphis with seven state tournaments under his belt, Delgado also has extensive freestyle and Greco-Roman experience. A USA and FILA/United World Wrestling official for over 30 years, he has officiated more than 50 national championship tournaments while also working tournaments on four continents.
Frank Simpson started Jose in wrestling, but he became immersed him in the sport while working as an assistant for Walt Holmes. During his nine-year tenure, Delgado had an opportunity to work with wrestling greats Lucas Borneman and Brandon Wright as they devastated their weight classes and won titles.
Delgado developed tournament software to help run the Black Horse Invitational which later was used by the TSSAA to run the state tournament.
He also coached with the Mid-South wrestling club for 16 years alongside many great coaches, including Tony Bradley.
Delgado has been a leader everywhere he has been, including serving as vice chairman of Texas USA Wrestling for 14 years and as a member of the local region board since 2015. He has served as the event manager for the Texas UIL high school state wrestling state tournament since 2014.
He manages tournaments for many local high schools and provides technical support for high school coaches in Texas.
Delgado was a high school teacher for 15 years and has worked with FloSports since 2022.
