Tim Gilbert (Rico)
· 33 years of service as a wrestling official and/or coach
· Graduate of Wando High School (Charleston, SC) - 1980
· 1st Wando HS state champion (126 lbs.) - 1980
· 1st wrestler to receive athletic wresting scholarship
· Competed collegiately on scholarship at D1 South Carolina State University
· United States Navy veteran; undefeated military competitor while in the Navy
· Took position at Camden County naval base following discharge from Navy
· 33 years (1990 - present) as one of the premier wrestling officials in the southeast for the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) and South Carolina High School League
· Began officiating with the North Florida Wrestling Officials Association (NFWOA) in 1990 then started the Southeast Georgia Wrestling Officials Association (SEGWOA) in 1997, serving as founder and president
· One of the Georgia High School Association’s top trainers for new and upcoming officials
· Serves on the GHSA’s wrestling advisory board (one of two officials)
· USA Certified M3 freestyle official
· A mainstay at national level age group and high school tournaments throughout the country including Rocky Mountain Nationals, National High School Coaches Association, Super 32, POWA, Virginia Challenge Holiday Duals, Supreme Gladiators (Las Vegas)
· Has had a lengthy career as a wrestling coach in south Georgia and north Florida, including one season as lead GHSA community coach at Camden County High School (1989)
· Founded and coaches South Georgia Wrestling Club which has served as the training ground for numerous champion youth and high school wrestlers in the south Georgia/north Florida area
· Wife, Alvenus; children: Elijah Roberts, Alegra Gilbert ,Tim Gilbert II
