William Lukridge

Bill wrestled in high school for Hall of Fame Coach, Ralph Wetzel at Hatboro-Horsham School District. Because of his hard work and great team ethic, Ralph selected Bill as his first-ever team captain in his senior year.

After high school, Bill attended Wilkes College, graduating in 1972. He was a member of the wrestling team, but saw limited action on the mat. But those were great teams at Wilkes – they won the MAC League Championships in 1969 and 1970.

After college, Bill began his career at Souderton Area, teaching Social Studies. He was a Jr High/Middle School wrestling coach for 29 years. Starting from scratch, he started Souderton’s Jr Hi team. Bill created the Upper Bux-Mont Jr Hi School Individual Wrestling Tournament. He was the Indian Valley Jr. High Head Wrestling coach for 24 years, then at the varsity level he was an Assistant Coach at Souderton High School for 5 years, and the Head Coach for 4 years.

In 1973, Bill became a PIAA Wrestling Referee. He has officiated for 40 years, still continuing today! He was an EIWA referee for 10 years. Bill worked countless Philadelphia City and Catholic Tournaments. He officiated the District 1 Sectionals from 1976-2012, and the District 1 Tournament from 1978-2012.  He worked SE Regionals from 1985-2010. Crowned by officiating in the PIAA State Tournament in 1994, 1995, 2005, and 2007.  

Bill also performed in the Wilkes Open Wrestling Tournament as a referee in 1989, 1990, and 1991. He is still an active member in the NFHSC, and the PIAA. In 2008 he was awarded a beautiful watch commemorating his 35 years of service to the PIAA. Bill is a member of the Old York Road Wrestling Officials Chapter. He also volunteers in the local Baseball Leagues, and has acted as the Commissioner in those organizations. Bill and his wife, Margaret still reside in Hatboro, PA.
