Sophia Matthews is honored to be chosen as the Massachusetts recipient of the Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award. Sophia is from Woburn and wrestled for Woburn Memorial High School under Coaches Mike Parziale and Joe Lisacki. Sophia finished her high school career 98-83, a 3x Girls All State Champion, Girls Folkstyle All American, and ranked 14th in the country at 122 pounds by USA Wrestling. Sophia was also a 2x Boston Globe All Scholastic, 2x Boston Herald All Scholastic, and a member of the Massachusetts and New England Halls of Fame. As a student athlete at Woburn Memorial High School, Sophia was a member of the National Honor Society and had a 3.62 GPA. Sophia will be continuing her academic career at Bentley University.
