Maximilian Leete
As an eighth-grade wrestler for the Danvers Falcons, Maximilian Leete recorded a 40-12 record, earned a sectional title, and then placed at both the state and all-state tournaments.
However, that was just a preview of what he would accomplish in the years to come.
Over the next three years, Max captured Massachusetts State and All-State titles each year. He also progressed from a New England third-place medalist in 2018, to a New England finalist in 2019, to New England champion in 2020.
During those three years, Max accumulated a 162-5 win-loss record. If not for the 2021 season, during which Max registered an 8-0 record, being shortened due to COVID it is almost certain that he would have eclipsed the Massachusetts record for wins in a high school wrestling career. I
n addition, Max earned eighth place at the Greco-Roman Fargo Championships in the summer of 2019, placed fifth at 126 pounds at the 2021 National High School Coaches Association Senior Nationals, and was a Northeast Regional finalist in 2021.
Max was twice selected as the Salem News Wrestler of the Year while also being named to the Boston Globe All-Scholastic and the Boston Herald All-Scholastic teams.
In addition, he was the varsity football kicker and varsity tennis captain at Danvers.
Outside of athletics, Max earned a 3.9 GPA, was a school committee student representative, founded the first anti-discrimination club in the school district, and was a member of the Spanish National Honor Society. Furthermore, Max volunteered at an LGBTQ+ youth center in Salem, with Best Buddies, and at Danvers CARES. Max was also a DECA Club officer.
Max is enrolled at American University, where he continues his wrestling career.
