Jim Weed
Marcos De Niza High School was fortunate when they hired Jim Weed to coach their wrestling team in 1978. Jim ended up spending 18 years there as the Head Coach and another 5 as the assistant. In his time at the helm his teams won the state title in 1997 and then racked up 3 more from 2002 to 2004. They also had a trio or State Runner-up trophies. His teams were always competitive, capturing 14 regional Titles. His wrestlers brought home 33 individual State Titles and a total of 97 State placings over the years. Jim was named Arizona Coach of the year twice and Arizona All Star Coach on 3 occasions. He has mentored several coaches at various levels of wrestling and has been supportive of USA Wrestling over the years. In 2013 Jim dusted of his wrestling shoes to assist the Hamilton High School team and is currently still active in that position impacting youth through the sport of wrestling
