Don Adair

Don Adair coached at Holly for 31 years, had a three-year stint at Eads, and for the past three years has been an assistant at Eaglecrest High School in Aurora. While at Holly, no small school was more dominant. Adair's teams compiled a 316- 62-2 dual match record, won 11 state championships at Holly, finished second twice, won 25 league titles and 22 district/regional titles. He coached 40 state champions, which included sons Sparky (twice) and Curt (three times), four-time champion Kevin Barth and a total of 170 state place winners and 272 district/regional place winners. Several of his former wrestlers have gone on to become successful coaches at the middle school and secondary levels. Adair, who began the Junior Olympic Youth Wrestling program in Holly and who also has worked as an official for many years, was selected as the Colorado Coach of the Year ten times. He was also the inaugural coach for the North in the All-State duals. Adair, who was also an assistant football coach at Holly, earned his Bachelor and Masters degrees from Western State College and taught social studies, history, American Government and Geography. He currently works as a substitute teacher in the Cherry Creek school district.
