Andrew Murray (Bud)

Andrew “Bud” Murray graduated from Evanston High School in Evanston, Illinois, in 1951 and then spent the decade of the 1950s serving in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne Division and attending Arizona State University. He earned a bachelor's degree in history while playing football and golf.
He taught history and coached men's sports at Cathedral High School in Gallup, New Mexico from 1959-62 before moving to McHenry, Illinois, where he continued to teach and coach.
Bud moved to Atlanta in 1968 to teach at Marist High School. During his 20-year career at Marist he taught political science, history and physical education while coaching various sports, including wrestling, football and golf.
He led the wrestling team to Georgia state championships in 1974 and 1975 and a runner-up finish in 1976. Bud was named Coach of the Year by Wrestling Georgia in 1974, 1975 and 1976.
Bud helped Marist continue the War Eagles tradition of academic excellence and athletic success while his passion, positive attitude and drive were infectious and left a lasting legacy.
