James Hazewinkel
Coach James Hazewinkel has been a wrestling coach for 33 years. After coaching at Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Owatonna, Minnesota, he moved to Pensacola Christian College in 1991. His overall coaching record is 304 wins, 184 losses, and 10 ties. He won 2 National College titles in Minnesota 1976 and 1980. James Hazewinkel established Pensacola Christians College's first wrestling team and for a few years provided the only college level wrestling in the State of Florida. His accomplishments during his tenure in Florida included: 4 National Christian College Association titles 1994, 1995, 1996 and 1998, 2 National Collegiate Wrestling titles 1999 and 2000. Since his move to Florida his program has produced 37 individual National Champions. He has been voted National Coach of the Year 5 times: NCCAA 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996, NCWA 2002. Since moving to Florida, Jim has also competed in the AAU Master's Division and won championships in 1998, 2000 and 2004. Jim has already been inducted into four Halls of Fame: 1975 NAIA National Wrestling Hall of Fame, 1983 St. Cloud State University Hall of Fame (individual), 1997 Minnesota State Wrestling Hall of Fame and 2004 St. Cloud State University Hall of Fame (team). Jim's contributions go beyond wrestling. In his own words, "I believe the Lord has called me to teach and coach. It is a ministry and I love working with young men who want to wrestle for the honor and glory of the Lord."
