Walter Allison
Official Walter M. Allison, III is one of Florida's pioneer wrestling coaches. He began his coaching career as a junior high school coach in 1965, in Dade County. Walt became assistant coach at Palmetto High School and was named head coach at South Miami High School in 1971. As with so many coaches, Walt became a college and high school official in 1968. It is with the officiating role that he has had the greatest impact on Florida wrestling. Walt has refereed fifteen State Championship Tournament and was appointed five times to serve as Coordinating Official at the State tournament. He was elected by his fellow officials to represent all wrestling officials to the FHSAA and has served on the FHSAA Official's Advisory Committee. Seven times, Walt has served as the head clinician to mentor his fellow referees.
