Warren Howe, MD
Dr. Warren Howe "Washington's Wrestling Doctor" State High School Tournament Physician 1978-present Dr. Warren Howe has been a leader in involving the medical profession in athletics. He has been a proponent for schools to develop a working relationship with a local medical professionals to provide the needed care for athletes. Warren began working with the Washington State High School Wrestling Championships in 1978 and has been the director of medical services since that time. He currently directs a medical staff of over 70 physicians, physical therapists, certified athletic trainers, and student trainers in providing the medical coverage for Mat Classic, the Washington State High School Wrestling Championships, which consists of 24 mats with 1280 matches in two days. The tournament and the medical coverage provided set the standard for all other states to follow. Dr. Howe has served on the WIAA Medical Aspects Committee since 1981, providing the guidance necessary to assure safety of athletes in all activities. During this time he has become the expert in the State of Washington on skin conditions in wrestling. He has established the guidelines that all school use in the detection, treatment and return of athletes dealing with skin infections in wrestling.
