WATERLOO, Iowa – The National Wrestling Hall of Fame Dan Gable Museum announced that Naomi Simon of Decorah High School has been chosen as the 2024 recipient of the Iowa High School Female Wrestler of the Year award.

This award is presented annually to the top female high school senior wrestler in Iowa.

Simon will be presented her award during the Glen Brand Wrestling Hall of Fame of Iowa induction ceremony on June 21 at the Prairie Links Golf and Event Center in Waverly, Iowa. For more information telephone (319) 233-0745 or email dgmstaff@nwhof.org.

Simon has distinguished herself with an unparalleled achievement in the annals of Iowa girls high school wrestling by becoming the first female wrestler to win four state championships. She concluded her prep career undefeated with a 130-0 record. During her sophomore year, she won the state championship at 170 pounds and had a 25-0 record with every win being a pin. She returned in 2023 and won her third state title, the first to be sanctioned by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, with a 37-0 record. Simon closed out her career with a fourth state championship and a 48-0 record with 47 pins. Nationally, she is ranked third at 170 pounds and 23rd in the pound-for-pound rankings. Simon will continue her wrestling career at the University of Iowa.
