We find his courage and dedication to all that is noble In Ife to be extremely admirable and worthy of emulation. Douglas Zembiec's wresting career speaks for Itself. In that he was an All American and a member of the USNA Hall of Fame, he was one of Navy's finest athletes.

It is interesting to note that Ron Owen, Zembiec's coach at La Cueva High School InAt the Naval Academy, Major Zembiec was known for his determination in wresting, which became one of his top priorities. It's not difficult to understand why he was considered a perfectionist with physical condltoning high on the list.

Upon joining the Marine Corps, Zemblec became an Insplration and a role model to everyone serving with him. Just consider the description given to hlm by Col. Ripley-'Absolutely Magnetic'! They don't come much better.

He Joined the Marines because he wanted to serve with the toughest. In Fallujah Major Zemblec was heard to say, "My men are fighting Iike lions'' Hence-he will be forever known as the "Lion of Fallujah".

While he was a battle hardened Marine, Doug also had a soft slde -a tender smile, a yearning for his wife and family, and unabashed tears In memory of his fallen comrades.

We shall Iong remember that Major Zemblec was Killed while engaged so valorously in combat against the enemies of our country. We shall also remember how he used his strength and his will power to develop his confidence and leadership ability. Thus he leaves a magnificent legacy to those who right now are working to fill his boots.

Major Douglas Zembiec combined his excellent personal character with top - grade training and education at the Naval Academy become outstanding military commander- and then gallantly sacrificed his life for his country.

His wife, Pamela, his one-year-old daughter Fallyn, his parents, Don and Jo Ann of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and his brother John, survive Doug Zemblec.
