2025 Senior World Team member Max Black and two-time age-group World medalist Aden Attao, who was the Idaho winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award in 2023, headline the U23 Greco-Roman field at the 2026 U23 Nationals & U20 World Team Trials at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.

Competition in the U23 Greco-Roman division runs from start to finish on Friday, May 29. Champions will be crowned following a best-of-three series between the two finalists.

The winners of each weight class are in a prime position to represent Team USA at the 2026 U23 World Championships in Las Vegas, Nevada, from October 12-18. The U23 World Team spot goes to the U23 Nationals champion unless a higher-ranking age-group eligible Senior National Team member elects to take the roster spot.

Wrestlers to Watch

Max Black is in the field at 60 kg after he was a member of the 2025 Senior World Team. In his career, Black is a four-time age-group World Team member competing at U23 Worlds in 2024 and 2025 and U20 Worlds in 2022 and 2023.

Two-time age-group World medalist Aden Attao looks to make his second straight U23 World Team at 130 kg, following his national title at this event last spring. Attao won bronze at the U20 World Championships in 2022 and 2024.

Fellow 2025 U23 World Team members Aliaksandr Kikiniou, Jr., Max Ramberg and Aydin Rix McElheinney are also among the 290-plus entrants this weekend. Ramberg and Rix McElheinney are looking for their second-straight U23 Nationals titles.

Other wrestlers looking to repeat as champions are Kenneth Crosby, Rhett Peak, Adrian Artsisheuskiy and Keenan Wyatt.

2022 U20 World Team member Artsisheuskiy is among four former U20 World Team members looking to make an impact on the U23 stage. Soren Herzog competed on the U20 World Team member in 2024 and 2025, with Nick Nosler joining him on the 2025 team. Zachary Silvis competed for the U.S. at the 2023 U20 World Championships.

Michael Altomer is a two-time age-group World Team member, having competed at the U23 and U20 Worlds in 2023. 2024 U23 World Team member Hunter Garvin and 2022 U17 World Team member Elyle Francisco round out the age-group World Team members in Greco-Roman.

2024 U23 World Team member in freestyle, Lucas Stoddard, joins the Greco-Roman field this weekend at 130 kg.

Weight Classes to Watch

60 kg

Max Black headlines the 60 kg division as a former Senior World Team member. Black is joined by defending champion Rhett Peak. The two met during the U20 World Team Trials final in 2023, where Black won the best-of-three series, two matches to none. 2022 U17 World Team member Elyle Francisco is among the names to watch at this weight class.

87 kg

A trio of age-group World Team members is featured at 87 kg in Michael Altomer, Aliaksandr Kikiniou, Jr. and Aydin Rix McElhinney. The pair of Kikiniou and Rix McElhinney are both moving up in weight from their 2025 U23 World weight classes. Kikiniou moves up three classes from 72 kg, and Rix McElhinney climbs from 77 kg. During Altomer’s U23 Worlds appearance in 2023, he competed at 87 kg, but at the 2025 U23 Pan American Championships, he competed at 97 kg. The trio will also have to battle the defending champion, Keenan Wyatt. Wyatt has also recently moved up in weight and competed at the 2025 U23 Pan American Games at 97 kg.

97 kg

Max Ramberg looks to defend his U23 Nationals title after capturing the championship with four bonus victories over five bouts. Two-time U20 World Team member Soren Herzog is stepping up to the U23 division this season and looks to make an impact at 97 kg. Cody Kwak is another name to watch in the division. He competed for the U.S. at the Thor Masters earlier this year.

130 kg

Two-time age-group World medalist and defending U23 Nationals champion Aden Attao features at 130 kg. He enters the weekend following a third-place finish at Senior World Team Trials in April at the U.S. Open. Another name to keep an eye on in this weight class is Lucas Stoddard, who was a U23 World Team member in freestyle. Attao and Stoddard are currently slated for double duty this weekend, competing in Greco-Roman freestyle. Jimmy Hustoles also carries international experience into the division after competing at the Thor Masters this past March.

PIN Ratings

The top 10 wrestlers in each weight class based on USA Wrestling Greco-Roman PIN ratings are listed below. PIN ratings, which are not seeds, and athlete separation within each bracket are not final until after weigh-ins and are subject to change based on final entries.

To be eligible for separation at a USA Wrestling regional or national event, athletes must have a minimum style-specific PIN rating of 1100. Additionally, USA Wrestling will only separate up to 50 percent of a bracket.

USA Wrestling’s Performance Index, abbreviated as PIN, is used for separating top athletes at USA Wrestling regional and national events. Each wrestler is assigned a PIN rating based on their results over time.
