New Jersey Chapter Announces Class of 2023 Inductees

The New Jersey Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame will honor six new members in its induction banquet on Sept. 24, taking place at the Westin Hotel in Princeton, NJ.

Lifetime Achievement Awards will be presented to the following inductees: Bill Voliva, two-time ACC champion at Virginia and long-time Piscataway High School coach; Mike Suk, 3-time Division III All-American at Glassboro State College and among top 10 state high school coaches with most career wins; Miller Preston, wrestled at Ursinus College, 32 years a high school coach with 29 winning seasons; Joe Dougherty, state champion, wrestled at Bloomsburg State before coaching high school 26 years; Michael Cunningham, wrestled at Bloomsburg State before coaching at the high school and youth level. The Outstanding American Award recipient is Dr. Walter Grote, two-time NCAA qualifier at Cornell, alternate on U.S. 1976 Olympic Team, board certified for Internal and Regenerative medicine, and still involved in the sport.

The class of 2023 will be joined by many former inductees from the previous 21 class inductions into the New Jersey Chapter, as well as several guests who will be in attendance to enjoy a banquet-style meal with introductory activities and awards program commencing at 1 p.m.
