LOUISVILLE, Ky. – High school star Jayden James continued his run at the 2026 Senior World Team Trials Challenge Series with a semifinal pin on Thursday evening at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center. The semifinal round also featured Jax Forrest and Benjamin Davino notching wins at 61 kg to rekindle their rivalry.
Ninth-seeded James, a 2025 U17 World champion, was facing a deficit with 45 seconds left after a scramble left the score 4-4 with Quincy Monday holding the criteria. However, right off the restart, James scored a takedown and turned it into a fall with 30 seconds left in the contest to secure the win.
James moves on to the finals at 74 kg, where he meets 2025 World Team member David Carr. Carr outlasted Evan Wick in a 6-5 decision.
At 61 kg, the Davino-Forrest feud gets renewed on Friday after the pair notched semifinal victories. Top-seeded Davino scored a 3-1 decision over Nathan Tomasello, and second-seeded Forrest scored a 9-4 win over Aaron Seidel.
In 2026, Davino and Forrest have split their two meetings. Forrest edged Davino in the championship match at the NCAA National Championships, 4-2. Then, in the rematch in the semifinals at the U.S. Open, Davino managed an 8-4 victory over Forrest.
A trio of Olympians also punched their tickets to the championship round as Spencer Lee, Zain Retherford and Mason Parris all secured semifinal victories.
In his first match since the 2024 Olympics, Retherford held off Landon Robideau in a tight 3-2 affair. In the finals, Retherford takes on Caleb Henson, who earned an 8-3 win over Edward Scott at 70 kg.
Lee teched his way into the finals in a 12-2 contest against Brody Teske at 57 kg. Lee now battles Anthony Knox in the championship bout. Knox also won by technical fall in the semifinals over Liam Cronin, 11-0.
As 125 kg, Parris finished the day 2-0 following a 6-3 win against Daniel Kerkvliet, Jr. In the finals, Parris takes on Isaac Trumble, who won 3-0 against Coby Merrill.
