The women’s freestyle 59 kg best-of-three series between Alexis Janiak, who was the Illinois winner of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame's Tricia Saunders High School Excellence Award, and Abigail Nette is another intriguing experience-versus-youth matchup at 2026 Final X, presented by Kerberos Capital Management, on Friday, June 19 at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.

In their first career meeting, Nette defeated Janiak by 11-0 technical fall in the semifinals of this year’s U.S. Open Championships in Las Vegas. Nette went on to win the U.S. Open title, cementing her place at Final X. Janiak battled back for third place in Las Vegas and ultimately qualified for Final X by winning the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament.

The experience edge favors Nette, who made the Senior World Team in 2022. She is also a two-time U23 World Team member (2018-19) and earned a silver medal at the 2024 CISM Military World Championships as a soldier-athlete with the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. It has been a strong start for Nette in 2026. She claimed bronze medals at the first two United World Wrestling Ranking Series events of the year and is fresh off a gold-medal effort at the Pan American Championships.

Janiak enters Newark seeking her first Senior World Team. She has represented the U.S. at three age-group World Championships, medaling in each appearance. At the U20 level, Janiak captured bronze in 2023 and silver in 2024. Last year, Janiak was a U23 bronze medalist. She also owns four Senior-level medals, with her most recent being a silver from the 2026 Zagreb Open Ranking Series, where she outplaced Nette.

Collegiately, Janiak was a national champion and four-time All-American at Aurora University. She just completed her senior year with a runner-up finish at the inaugural NCAA Women’s Wrestling Championships. Nette was a two-time WCWA national champion, winning her first title at Emmanuel University in 2019 and her second title at Campbellsville University in 2020.

What’s at Stake?

Final X will determine the 2026 U.S. World Team in two international disciplines—men’s freestyle and women’s freestyle. In total, 20 weight classes will be contested, 10 in each discipline. The top two U.S. athletes in each weight class will wrestle a best-of-three series at Final X to determine the U.S. representative at the 2026 Senior World Championships.

Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit

Final X will serve as the 2026 Beat the Streets New York Annual Benefit, the 16th BTSNY Annual Benefit to date. These unique electrifying events help BTSNY raise more than $1 million each year to support local youth wrestling programs, which empower young people in New York City. The BTSNY Annual Benefit after-party will follow the conclusion of Final X.

This will be the second Final X and Beat the Streets event appearance for both Lilledahl and Lee, following their head-to-head matchup at Final X last June. Lee won that series two matches to none.
