Florida Organizes to Honor Successful Wrestlers

Florida Chapter alumni Bob Walker (2003) has established the Florida Wrestling Hall of Fame (FLWHOF) whose mission is to recognize and honor Florida wrestlers for their outstanding accomplishments and their demonstration of sportsmanship, integrity, and exemplary leadership. Saturday May 13 will mark the inaugural ceremony to induct Rohan Gardner, Dwight Gardner, Jared Frayer, Sam Hazewinkel, Eric Grajales, Franklin Gomez and Glenn Goodman.

According to NWHOF Florida Director Gary Townsend (2015), “The FLWHOF is doing something that is not in our Mission Statement. Our alumni qualify with a lifetime of service to wrestling which consists mostly of Coaches and Officials. Now there is a place of honor for Florida’s most accomplished wrestlers.”

The FWHOF Board of Directors is populated with NWHOF Florida alumni and Gary Townsend says, “they have the full support of our organization. We will be displaying a scaled down version of our mobile museum at their event, and we are actively lending technical support. This is a win win for Florida wrestling.”
